Apple Announces Newly Revamped iPad 4th Gen and Highly Anticipated iPad Mini During Live Press Event
The wait is finally over!
Today, during a live press event that, for the first time, was broadcast online for the public to view, Apple announced the long awaited and highly-rumored iPad Mini. The device looks to be a smaller, slightly redesigned version of its full-sized iPad big brother, with a width of only 7.2 mm and a 7.9 inch screen size. At a mere .68 pounds, half as light as the iPad, Apple claims the iPad Mini is just as light as a legal notepad. The iPad Mini will have a screen resolution of 1,024 x 768, which is the same resolution as the iPad 2, and will contain a dual-core A5 processor, FaceTime HD camera on the front, and a 5-megapixel iSight camera on the back with 1080p recording. LTE wireless will also be built into the device, as well as the new Lightning dock connector, putting the device in line with redesigns we have seen on the new iPhone 5 and iPod devices.
Prices for Apple’s new iPad Mini tablet will start at just $329 for the 16GB Wi-Fi version, with the 32GB and 64GB models starting at $429 and $519, respectively. Preorders start this Friday, October 26th, and Wi-Fi versions of the device ship on November 2nd.
