HZO Employees Weigh In | Cassandra Bragg

At HZO, protecting what matters most to you matters most to each of us. We wanted to pull back the curtain and show you how we work together to do this, so we asked a few of our employees to weigh in.

The fourth blog in this series features Cassandra Bragg as she discusses what it’s like to work at HZO:

1. What is your position at HZO, and what does that entail?

I’m the Total Rewards Specialist for HZO, which means that I am responsible for administering benefits, including medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, as well as salary continuation and long-term disability. When I’m not busy with these responsibilities, my time is also spent understanding current and upcoming market trends, and exploring perk options so that HZO can offer the most competitive benefits.

2. What was your background before you came to HZO?

I’ve been blessed to work in various HR roles for over 15 years. My responsibilities have ranged from new hires, employee training, leave of absences, and more. One job I really loved was when I worked as a recruiter for a chicken processing plant! It was an extremely diverse job – we translated interviews into nine different languages! I also spent 7 years working at a local historically black college and university.

3. What do you love most about working here?

Well, first, it would have to be the people. I’ve seen a lot of personalities at HZO because I administer benefits. It’s been a pleasure getting to know my coworkers, where they come from, and who they are. I’ve never come across someone I just didn’t like. We have found competent people, but also quality people from a variety of countries and backgrounds. HZO’s purpose also makes it a great place to work. It’s got an international presence and helpful technology, which makes it feel good to be here. I can use my experience to really make a difference here.

4. What’s challenging about working here?

I’d say my greatest challenge at HZO has been to make sure our employees are getting the best insurance at the rates possible.

5. What do you do when you’re off the clock?

I spend a lot of time with family and friends. During these unprecedented times, I have attended events on Zoom – engagement parties, virtual happy hours, and more. I’m very thankful for social media – you can connect in an instant, with friends all over the globe. The pandemic has reminded us that time is not promised, so I make the most of every moment. I love live music, anime, sci-fi, and embracing my artistic side with music, art, and painting.

6. What’s the most important thing we should know about HZO?

The most important thing to know about HZO is that the technology we use is more of a necessity than you may think. If you look around your house, there are things you own that we have probably coated already – and we have the nerve to be developing more things for the future with our Spectrum of Protection™!

I’d say my greatest challenge at HZO has been to make sure our employees are getting the best insurance at the rates possible.
