HZO Advantage: The Benefits of Working With the Industry Leading Protective Coating Supplier
IDC predicts that by 2025 there will be 55.7 billion connected devices worldwide, 75% of which will be connected to an IoT platform. Many of these sensitive electronics will be deployed into hazardous environments, creating an urgent need for protective coatings, as enclosures and seals are downgraded or phased out to align with miniaturization trends. Additionally, the emphasis is shifting away from traditional conformal coatings as they can often be too bulky or thick for shrinking form factors. Instead, HZO provides next-generation thin-film coatings microns or nanometers thick, offering various benefits to OEMs and their product design teams, along with a flexible, customer-focused solution.
Material Science: The HZO Spectrum of Protection™
What does it mean to be the only coating supplier in the industry with a Spectrum of Protection? It means that we aren’t limited to a one-size-fits-all solution and have the freedom to push boundaries for our customers. We love what we do, and we love our customers, so exploring new technology and creating customer-focused solutions comes easy.
You’ve Got Options with HZO
While many competitors focus on a single coating solution, mainly plasma-polymerized nanocoatings or Parylene thin-film coatings, HZO offers both coating alternatives as a part of our Spectrum of Protection portfolio of chemical compositions from which protective solutions can be crafted.

Gold-Standard Protection with Gold-Standard Processes
Various methodologies within the chemical vapor deposition (CVD) process (the Parylene application method) are utilized within the market. But HZO’s proprietary approach, including a unique mix of temperature, pressure, and materials, provides efficient and effective coating coverage within the boundaries of responsible environmental considerations.

We believe that every manufacturer has the responsibility to reduce harmful substances and actively adhere to or exceed the initiatives of the IEEE and Green Electronics Council. We offer Halogen Free, REACH, RoHS, PFOA/PFOS free, and CA Prop 65 compliant coatings because of this commitment.
High Volume Manufacturing
With 55.7 billion connected devices coming down the pipeline, we realize that our customers will need to ramp up to mass production – and quickly. High volume manufacturing necessitates cost optimizing measures, the ability to configure solutions rapidly and proficiently, and scalability. Unfortunately, with next-generation processes such as CVD or plasma-enhanced chemical deposition (the nanocoating application method), this traditionally hasn’t been an option. However, our commitment to serving customers and employing creative technology has allowed us to engineer proprietary solutions to keep up with demand.
Automation to Drive Down Costs
Many vendors rely heavily on manual labor for masking / de-masking operations, common with Parylene. Meanwhile, we’ve advanced the use of automation to increase units per hour (UPH), consistency, and quality.
Scalability at Your Fingertips
Many thin-film coating vendors focus on small batch production with limited ability to scale. HZO’s process scales from small lots to mass production runs measured in the tens of thousands of units per day.
Highly Dependable Processes
For consistent, scalable results, repeatability is the name of the game. That’s why we have created customized manual and automated processes adjusted to program scale that achieve >99% yield rates.
A Reliable Business Partner
Putting your product’s reliability into a coating partner’s hands can be intimidating, but there is no need to worry about working with HZO. Our reputation and drive for excellence can provide peace of mind.
Intellectual Property-Backed Technology
While many other suppliers employ “me too” processes which result in sub-optimized throughput and yields, our extensive patent portfolio (370+ patents/patents pending) provides a library of possibilities to deliver on the most basic, to most demanding, coating requirements.
HZO has extensive experience working with top-tier brands across industries and successfully executing various product applications of varying sizes/scope.
Rather than simply providing a technology license, stand-alone chemicals, or just equipment, we bring together deep domain knowledge with people, proven processes, IP-based material science, and proprietary capital equipment to provide an end-to-end, turnkey solution.

We love what we do, and we love our customers, so exploring new technology and creating customer-focused solutions comes easy.
Step-by-Step Partnership and Guidance
We offer early consulting and NRE workaround coating options, design for manufacturability, and production optimization.
After a contract is awarded, HZO works closely with the OEM on final design requirements. If applicable, the OEM’s contract manufacturer will be brought in.
HZO is typically paid on a piece-part basis for providing a turnkey coating solution – inclusive of the people, process, materials, and equipment.
Coating as a Service
HZO provides coating services onsite and through its factory locations to offer convenience and flexibility.
Factory in Factory Model
HZO establishes onsite operations within a contract manufacturer (CM) facility that we operate. Rent, overhead, and reimbursement for direct labor are provided from HZO to the CM.
New Material and Equipment Sales
We offer equipment, material, and training sales and service for in-house processing at medical, aerospace, and industrial customer facilities.
Coating as a service
HZO provides coating services offsite at key manufacturing locations as a batch process through our own Centers of Excellence. These centers apply HZO’s people, process, material science, and capital equipment to meet customer needs when and where they are required, embodying our turnkey solution where it matters most.
